EGEDI ANCIENTS PROJECT

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Project which addresses themes of passing and renewal, aims to initiate dialogues and foster a sense of unity during challenging times through raising social taboos and encouraging community reflection.

Dates and place and size

Size: approx 500 square meters
Location: Klauzál Square, Budapest
Duration: The project runs from February to September 2024 .

Concept and Theme

The project was initiated by personal experiences that highlighted how unprepared we are to face the topic of death. Its goal is to address the taboo subject of passing in society and to facilitate cultural dialogue about the possibilities of renewal. The installation surrounds the topic of death with a fence that only partially allows visitors to see into the area.

Creations and Symbols:

The creations draw inspiration from multiple cultural contexts. These are ancient civilizations where death and renewal were not taboo. The works are created on OSB boards, which are used as wood protectors during construction, and feature multi-layered symbols in an organic, calligraphic art style.

Techniques:

The installation uses recyclable materials, such as OSB boards used as wood protectors during construction. The artwork is created in brown and white colors with organic line work.

Purpose and Message:

The project aims to facilitate community understanding and address societal taboos, encouraging people to accept “death and renewal” as natural parts of life. With particular attention to the historical and cultural significance of the location, the installation intends to contribute respectfully and thoughtfully to the life of Klauzál Square and its community.
